Picture Representations

It was incredibly difficult trying to take photographs that would represent the concept of technology in developing countries so I will be the first to admit that both of these photographs are at best only tangentially related to my blog topic. In the first, there is a photograph of an upside down poster cutout of a young African girl taped to the elevator in my dormitory. In the second, I am using a cell phone while wearing a bracelet that I actually got as a gift in Southern Sudan.

  1. I understand the challenge of visually representing your topic. You did, however, manage to find related items. Overall, you definitely attempted to apply the basic visual elements we discussed. One thing to keep in mind is that on campus and in the DC area in particular, there is no shortage of international symbolism, influence, architecture, art, music, food and people. A creative shot of an embassy, the international center on campus or even a cell phone photo of the panel we had in class are just a few of the possibilities. Speaking of the panel, thank you for the excellent analysis and observations of the panel session. Your connection of the discussion to this topic and your responses to some of the information shared by the journalists were fascinating to read. Nice job.
